A mother who lost her son in a car crash in South Kilkenny says having a traffic corps based locally saves lives.
Noreen Malone was speaking as proposals are being discussed to bring the members of the traffic unit in Thomastown Garda Station back into Kilkenny City.
KCLR News understands no decisions have yet been made, but that if they were to go ahead there would still be a Garda car dedicated to the South Kilkenny area.
However, Noreen, who lost her son six years ago this Christmas, has told KCLR this isn’t enough.
And she says even the sight of Gardaí makes people more safety-conscious on the roads.
