Gardaí are investigating after four horses were stolen in South Kilkenny this week.
Three three-year-old geldings were stolen, along with a yearling from the Knockmoylan area of Mullinavat sometime between 10 to 9 and 11 o’clock on Tuesday morning.
Sergeant Catherine O’Gorman of Thomastown Garda Station says these animals would have been worth quite a bit:
“Two of them were beige in colour, one was chestnut. They’re expensive animals, they’re worth €7,000 each, and the yearling was worth €3,000.
“Those geldings would have been fully grown sizeable animals. It would have required a large horse box, maybe a small horse lorry to transport those animals.
“If anybody in South Kilkenny – particularly that area of Knockmoylan/Mullinavat on Monday morning – saw any type of farming equipment which might have had the ability to transport those animals, we would appreciate a call in Thomastown.”
