Up to 100 people of different nationalities, religions and ages gathered together in Kilkenny town hall yesterday evening in solidarity for the Charlie Hebdo publication and in support for those killed in the terrorist attack.
A minute’s silence was observed for all those victims who died in the Paris shootings.
Pencils and sharpeners were distributed to symbolise free expression in art and media and candles were lit in memorial for those who lost their lives.
Mary Cody, co-organiser and journalist for the Kilkenny people, told KCLR that an event like this galvanises the good in people and that most people want to live in an inclusive society.
