1 thousand and 61 patients have been left on trolleys at St Lukes hospital for Carlow Kilkenny so far this year.
That’s according to the latest figures from the Irish Nurses & Midwives Organisation who claim the figures nationally are still on the rise – up 26 percent on last year.
35-thousand patients were left on trolleys from January to April of this year – the highest number recorded for the 4 month period since records began.
The INMO carried out the analyses ahead of their three day Annual Delegate Conference which commences in Trim.
General Secretary, Liam Doran, says these numbers demonstrate the extent of the crisis in our hospitals.
