The 10th annual George Brown Commemoration gets underway in Inistioge from today.
The three-day event will include a mix of history, music, politics and heritage.
George, who was born in Inistioge, was always very involved in politics and became a member of the British Communist Party.
However, he then joined the International Brigade and fought in the Spanish Civil War where he died in 1937.
The commemoration will begin this evening, continuing tomorrow and on Sunday.
