18-49 year olds will be offered a choice over which vaccine they want to get.
The HSE has confirmed the news along with plans for the registration portal to open for 30- to 34-year-olds towards the end of next week.
NIAC is advising that under 50s are still offered an mRNA vaccine by the HSE, which means Pfizer or Moderna.
However if they want an earlier vaccination they can opt to get an AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson jab.
HSE CEO Paul Reid says he’s presented a plan to Government on how the latest NIAC advice would be implemented.
Meanwhile, approved Covid-19 vaccines in the EU are effective against the Delta variant, according to Europe’s Health Regulator.
But the European Medicines Agency says it is not in a position to recommend the use of different vaccines for the second dose, to speed up the roll out.
It says more data is expected and it will be reviewed when available.
