2 other county councils have now given the Barrow Blueway the green light.
Kildare county council has published its decision on the Waterways Ireland planning application online overnight.
The local authority there has decided to give the proposed development the go-ahead.
It comes after Laois county council already revealed yesterday that it was granting permission for the project with conditions attached.
It means Carlow county council are the only ones to refuse permission to Waterways Ireland – the reason they have given is their concerns for the Barrow and Nore special areas of conservation.
Waterways Ireland have 4 weeks to bring forward an appeal to An Bord Pleanála if they wish to.
