It’s been another hectic day for staff at St Lukes hospital where the emergency department has come under sustained pressure again.
44 patients were on trolleys there at one stage this morning
KCLR spoke to one of those patients earlier this morning who said it was hectic but staff there were still doing their best for patients.
Meanwhile a statement issued by the HSE on behalf of St Lukes today requested that people would present to local GP’s or Caredoc before coming to the hospital.
It says the Emergency department has been coming under continuing pressure with high numbers presenting with a variety of complex needs.
Staff and management are working to prioritise the discharge of patients as soon as possible where appropriate.
