Seven Carlow schools invited to avail of School Meals scheme

Seven new local schools could be set to benefit from funding for the provision of meals.

In the region of €47 .7 million is expected to be spent through the School Meals Scheme by the Department of Social Protection this year.

The seven Carlow schools invited to avail of the scheme this year are St Patrick’s National School in Rathvilly, Queen of the Universe in Bagenalstown, St Bridget’s Monastery, Muinebheag, Scoil Naomh Muire Lourdes Tullow,  St Joseph’s in Carlow, Scoil Náisiúnta Fiontain Naofa, Rathmore Tullow and Scoil Náisiúnta Naomh Fhiach, Graiguecullen.

The Meals Scheme provides breakfasts and, in some cases, lunches to school children.
