Fianna Fail deputy John McGuinness has told KCLR that we must recognise mental health and the issues surrounding it.
He was speaking at the darkness into light walk which started at James Stephens Barracks this morning.
Walks took place in Carlow, Kilkenny and Nationwide to raise awareness of suicide and is in aid of suicide and self harm prevention charity, Pieta House.
Speaking to KCLR this morning, Deputy McGuinness says the crowds at the walks show how much people care about this issue.
