New Safety Review of Roundabout in Carlow

A new safety audit is to be carried out on a roundabout next to the site of a state-of-the-art secondary school in Carlow.

Cllr Arthur McDonald told Carlow County Council it was a case of “I told you so” as motorists are still confused by the roundabout.

Acting Director of Services Liam Fitzgerald told yesterday’s monthly local authority meeting that a safety audit and all the checks were done before the roundabout went ahead.

He said motorists tended to drive on the footpath until bollards were erected at the roundabout on the Kilkenny Road near the site of the new Carlow Vocational School.

He agreed that a new safety audit will be done to iron out the issues.
