Thousands of euro were raised last night for the Carlow-Kilkenny Samaritans at a sell-out fashion show in Langton’s.
Volunteers from the charity’s free-to-call helpline 116-123 – were on the catwalk – along with celebrities including Olympic boxing medallist Kenny Egan and camogie star Miriam Walsh.
There are 20 branches of Samaritans across Ireland with 2,400 volunteers. In Kilkenny, the charity shop is based on Kieran Street in the city.
Stephen O’Riordan, the brother of disability rights advocate Joanne O’Riordan, addressed the crowd on mental health issues to a standing ovation.
