Up in smoke: Grow house catches fire in Rathvilly

Gardaí called out to a house fire in Rathvilly this morning got more than they bargained for – discovering a cannabis grow house on the premises.

The blaze broke out at the house in Slaney Bank View at about 9.30 this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene but there were no injuries and the fire has now been dealt with.

However Tullow Gardaí say a grow house was discovered at the premises and they currently have a man in custody, who they say is helping them with their inquiries.

Cannabis herb, with an estimated value of €200,000 has been seized.
