Local parents have been left devastated and angry at the HSE as the latest plans to provide overnight respite for their children have fallen through.
They found out at a meeting yesterday that the service they hoped would be up and running in Bagenalstown this summer won’t now go ahead.
Helen Fahy told KCLR Live this morning they have no intention of letting the matter lie.
Meanwhile in a statement to KCLR today the HSE says it has been challenging to source an appropriate premises for overnight respite purposes.
It says that because the premises proposed for use was not owned by the agency their agreement to use it for respite was compromised.
The Health Service says its long term plan is to develop a new purpose built respite service for the two counties and funding has been made available but it will take up to two years to complete.
Enable Ireland will run the new facility.
