Kilkenny councillors back campaign to get compulsory First Aid training for teachers

Councillors in Kilkenny have backed a local mothers campaign to get all teachers trained up in first aid.

Maria Condon from Ferrybank was in the public gallery with her family yesterday including her daughter Isabelle who suffers from apnoea.

The six-year-old is at the centre of Maria’s bid to get teachers and special needs assistants to undergo compulsory first aid training – due to her condition Isabelle could require resuscitation.

Councillor Melissa O’Neill tabled the motion which saw a unanimous agreement across party lines.
