Figures show 2016 was a busy one for Carlow Women’s Aid

With more than than 3,000 contacts made to Carlow Women’s Aid, last year was an extremely busy one for the local centre.

Figures show they worked with a total of 554 individual clients and they helped to obtain 254 Protection Orders.

Out of the 808 helpline calls they got throughout the year, the two busiest months were April and September with more than a hundred calls in both those months.

Those working with Carlow Women’s Aid also accompanied people to 388 court sittings.

Management at the centre have now requested permission to appear before Carlow County Council to address councillors in the new year.
