Two Gardaí based in Carlow town are among those to have been recognised at the Lifesaving Bravery Awards.
Water Safety Ireland’s annual event saw Garda Colin Mallick and Sgt Paul O’Shea acknowledged for an early-hours rescue on the River Barrow during the summer.
Minister of State Jerry Buttimer made a presentation to the pair at the ceremony which was held at UCD and MC’d by Síle Seoige.
