Simon Lewis says parents need greater choice in the education system.
It follows a survey of more than 200,000 hoseholders that show 40 percent of parents would prefer multi-denominational schools.
With most primary schools still under religious patronage, Mr. Lewis says options remain limited.
He’s also warned that leaving decisions to individual schools could create local tensions, and is calling on Minister Hildegarde Naughton to show leadership on the issue.
