A protest will take place in Carlow this afternoon to highlight the ongoing frustration many have felt regarding the government’s handling of the fuel crisis.
People are due to assemble at the Four Lakes Retail Park today from 2pm and will march to the Liberty Tree, with organisers calling on protestors to stand together and be heard peacefully.
Independent Ireland Councillor John Cassin says there’s a growing disconnect between protestors and the government’s management of fuel affordability,
“People are coming out today to march and to protest against the high fuel costs, you know, to become unmanageable for a large amount of people, farmers, haulers, commuters, people who with home heating oil.”
“It’s become very, very difficult for people to makea decision to either turn on the heating or have something to eat, which, it shouldn’t be in a modern Ireland. That shouldn’t be the case.”
