Fire crews in County Carlow are urging the public to remain vigilant this morning following a major gorse fire on Mount Leinster last night (Friday).
Emergency services were alerted by members of the public who spotted large flames in the Nine Stones area.
A crew from Bagenalstown Fire Station was mobilised to the scene, where they fought to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further.
The incident comes as a Red Forest Fire Warning remains in place across the region due to extremely dry conditions.
Authorities are asking locals and visitors to avoid lighting any fires or using BBQs in rural areas, and to ensure all smoking materials are extinguished properly.
