Leighlinbridge is a step closer to becoming even more Dementia Friendly.
About 100 people turned out last night at the Parish Centre for the launch of the Community Action Plan (details below) which sets out the shared goal of ensuring the locality and its surrounds are well equpment and informed to better understand as support those with cognitive issues, and their carers.
Attendees heard speeches from a host of those involved while a panel discussion chaired by Jo Donohoe held interesting input from Halo cofounder David Walsh, Leighlinbridge GP Dr Tom Foley and local woman Liz Maher who has lived experience of supporting a person with dementia.
The concept came from Helen Jordan, who now Chairs the Leighlin Dementia Friendly Community Group;
Minister of State at the Health Department Jennifer Murnane O’Connor officiated at the event – she spoke to our Edwina after and reiterated how she’s aiming to bring the plan to the rest of the country;
