There’s a major water outage affecting a number of areas in Carlow today.
Crews are working to repair the burst water main which is impacting customers in Grange, Killerig, Bennekerry, Knockarda, Ducketts Grove, Urglin, Brownshill, Parts of Carlow Town, Tullow East, Ardristan, Rathoe, Castlegrace, parts of Ballon, Killamaster, Knocknacree, Gilbertstown, Bendinstown and the surrounding areas.
Every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible but Uisce Éireann says the repairs are expected to be completed by 6pm today.
It usually takes another two to three hours for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
Motorists are advised that traffic management will be in place, on the R726 in the Grange/Killerig area, and will be clearly signposted to ensure the safety of the public and crews carrying out the works.
