There’s been a huge outpouring of support from Carlow and Kilkenny for a local woman who’s battling breast cancer.
Annette Foley had been treated on her initial diagnosis a couple of years ago and was declared cancer-free last year, but recently discovered it was back and causing pleural effusion around her left lung too.
Understood to be incurable, her family’s researching treatment options abroad and have told KCLR News “We won’t give up”.
Her husband Darren has put aside work for the moment to focus on caring for Annette as well as sons Joseph (14) and ten-year-old Max, who has Down Syndrome, to ensure they wouldn’t add financial stress to their worries a GoFundMe page was set up (see more and/or add to that here).
Sister Deborah says; “Community support has been unbelievable” but more is needed to help with Annette’s fight.
This Friday night (10th July) Murray’s Bar in Ballymurphy hosts a fundraiser for which a bus has been arrange to transport attendees from Kilkenny, Bagenalstown and Borris:
