Kilkenny City Fire and Rescue service get a new Chief

Kilkenny County Council has appointed a new Chief Fire Officer.

Frank Dunne succeeds John Collins, who retired in March, after serving as Assistant Chief Fire Officer and taking on the role in an acting capacity.

A veteran of the fire service with 26 years’ experience, Chief Dunne says his priorities include delivering major investment, expanding the fire engine fleet and ensuring crews are trained to respond to emerging technologies, including electric vehicles and solar energy systems.

He told KCLR News he’s delighted to take on the role.
