The Borris Fair is set to roll out today.
The annual event is held on August 15th to mark the Catholic Feast of the Assumption and attracts large crowds to the County Carlow village.
Attendance has dipped somewhat in recent years, but with this year’s fair falling on a Saturday and good weather forecast, organisers are hopeful of a stronger turnout.
Motorists travelling through the area are reminded that traffic restrictions have been in place since 10am yesterday.
Superintendent Anthony Farrell has this advice, “An Garda Siochana will be at key vehicular points supported by local stewards and Carlow Local Authority will advise motorists who normally pass through this route, maybe consider the route, and use available diversions.”
“Traffic flow is expected to be impact until 6 pm where road checkpoints and road closures will be lifted,” he added.
