It’s a big weekend for local soccer, with CK United about to begin their first season in the National League.
The Kilkenny-Carlow club gets its campaign underway tomorrow against Newbridge Town at the SETU Carlow Sports Campus.
It’s a landmark moment for the club, bringing together footballers from across both counties and giving the region a new presence on the national stage.
Senior League of Ireland football previously existed in Kilkenny through Kilkenny City AFC, who competed in the First Division before resigning from the League of Ireland in 2011.
Meanwhile, F.C. Carlow competed in the national A Championship between 2009 and 2011.
Now, CK United are looking to create a new chapter for football across Kilkenny and Carlow, with tomorrow’s opening game marking the beginning of an exciting new era for the club.
