Residents in Kilkenny are being encouraged to clear out unwanted electrical items today.
WEEE Ireland is holding a free collection at Cillín Hill until 4pm today, accepting household electrical appliances and batteries.
Kilkenny County Council says it’s a chance to declutter and dispose of items responsibly.
Biodiversity officer Bernadette Moloney told KCLR there are many appliances that people can bring along, “It’s a really good opportunity because the lads are going to be there, they’ll be able to help you to unload all the items that you may have.”
“This is the sixth collection that they’ve done over the month of August. They’re saying that they’re still finding very old appliances, people are still hoarding say very old fridge freezers, and also the televisions with the massive back to them. So we know there’s still a bit of a backlog there of older electrical equipment, and it is a really good opportunity to let them go.”
