There’s a focus on curbing speed on our roads as the latest National SlowDown Day takes hold.
The 24-hour Garda and Road Safety Authority operation sees extra personnel out on a range of routes across the country, including in Carlow and Kilkenny.
Promoting safer driving and reducing speed-related crashes are to the heart of the campaign which got underway at midnight. .
It coincides with the first full week of the new school year with more traffic than we’ve been used to over the summer months, with a particular focus around educational facilities at opening and closing times.
Meanwhile, stay tuned for a new road safety radio initiative ‘Road Wise’ which gets underway this week funded by the News Reporting Scheme with thanks to Coimisiún na Meán, which will be overseen by KCLR News’ Martin Quilty.
