There’s a focus on curbing speed on our roads as the latest National SlowDown Day takes hold.
The 24-hour Garda and Road Safety Authority operation sees extra personnel out on a range of routes across the country, including in Carlow and Kilkenny.
Promoting safer driving and reducing speed-related crashes are to the heart of the campaign which got underway at midnight. .
It coincides with the first full week of the new school year with more traffic than we’ve been used to over the summer months, with a particular focus around educational facilities at opening and closing times.
Meanwhile, stay tuned for a new road safety radio initiative ‘Road Wise’ which gets underway this week with thanks to Coimisiún na Meán, which will be overseen by KCLR News’ Martin Quilty.
