Healthcare in the community is being discussed on day two of the Fianna Fáil think-in in Tullamore today.
Some of the most senior members from the Carlow Kilkenny constituency’s most senior members are attending the gathering.
Including TDs John McGuinness and Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere as well as Minister of State at the Department of Health, Jennifer Murnane O’Connor.
She believes health and wellbeing, drug prevention and access to services will be key areas of focus for today and that the new national drug strategy will put a strong emphasis on prevention and awareness.
Minister Murnane O’Connor, who will be making a presentation to fellow Dáil Deputies and Senators later this morning, told KCLR News “There still is a big stigma about drugs and we have to make sure that we address the stigma, we have to make sure people realise drugs are an addiction and it’s how we start getting word out there about the prevention, awareness, and of course, again, do not take drugs, that would be the big area going forward”.
