Kasia Kaminska – is an artist living in Co. Kilkenny. She works across photography, print, publications and public engagement. Her practice centers on ecological photography and sustainable bookmaking methods as well as foraging, gardening and growing. Her practice is led by issues of eco-social concern and she often works in collaboration with others and in socially engaged contexts. Her photographic projects and publications have been included in exhibitions and book fairs throughout Ireland and she has been awarded artist residencies at Roscommon Arts Center, Butler Gallery, Cow House Studios and Grizedale Arts. Kasia has been commissioned by The Butler Gallery for ‘The Soil Project’. It is a yearly commission at the gallery that invites artists to create participatory projects around issues to do with the environment and Soil Health. As part of the project Kasia is inviting the public to send her a photo and story of their favourite tree, which she will compile into a visual tree register of Kilkenny’s native woodland. This open call – titled Coill Chainnigh aims to celebrate our native trees, local folklore and the Irish language while fostering environmental awareness, cultural revitalisation and stewardship of Kilkenny trees and woodlands. Submitted images and stories will form part of a new series of artworks by Kasia Kaminska over the coming months. Kasia wants to speak about the project
