Kilkenny and Carlow both saw a significant increase in the numbers seeking unemployment assistance last month.
There are now 6,759 people on the live register in Carlow, an increase of 120 on the figure for June while Kilkenny saw an additional 135 people signing on last month, to bring its total to 6893.
Year on year the figures still represent a drop from 2013 number with almost 700 less people in either county signing on in Carlow and Kilkenny in the last 12 months
Local TD John Mc Guinness admits the figures are a worry.
