A man in his 60’s remains in a critical condition in hospital this morning following a two car collision in Co. Carlow yesterday.

It happened shortly before 4 o’ clock yesterday afternoon, when a car and jeep were involved in a head on collision on the N80 close to Ballon in Co. Carlow.

A man in his 40’s – who was a passenger in the car – was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where a post mortem is due to be carried out later today.

Three other people were also hospitalised, a woman in her 60’s, who was in the jeep, and two men aged in their 20’s and 40’s who’d been travelling in the car.

Gardai are now appealing for witnesses to contact Carlow Garda station.
