There’ll be a new rose in Callan this evening!
The final of the Callan Rose 2015 competition takes place in the Kilkenny town today.
The competition is raising funds for the Callan War Memorial Committee which hopes to get a plaque erected in the town to commemorate all those from the area who died in the Great War.
One of the organisers, John Stapleton, told KCLR what’ll be happening today:
From 5pm to 7pm there’ll be street entertainment such as face-painting and stilt-walking, provided by KCAT Arts Centre;
At around 5.45 the Roses will be paraded through the town in vintage cars.
The main event will then kick off at 8 o’clock in the Abbey Bar.
