Cloud cover spoils view of solar eclipse

It was  too cloudy for most this morning but some locals got to enjoy a brief glimpse of the partial solar eclipse earlier.

Up to 97 percent of the sun was covered by the moon at around 9.30 but for most of us in Carlow and Kilkenny it just got dark.

Some lucky locals in South Kilkenny managed to catch a quick look at the partial eclipse before it disappeared behind the clouds again.
