If you are a woman in Carlow then you are almost twice as likely to die from stroke as a man in the county.
But it’s a different story in Kilkenny.
Stroke is the third biggest killer disease here in Ireland and Women in particulare are being urged to be extra vigilant about the risks involved.
New figures released ahead of National Stroke Week show that nationally 42 percent more women in Ireland die from stroke.
In Carlow the most recent figures are for 2013 where the deaths of women from stroke was almost double that of men.
However Kilkenny was one of just 2 counties that year where more men died.
The Irish Heart Foundation says age is a big factor when it comes to stroke.
