Interview – Liam Ó’Maonlaí (Ré) – 29/4/2015

I’ve spoken to Liam Ó’Maonlaí many times over the years on Blas Glas and I’m always struck by the depth of his knowledge and love for traditional music. He finds himself (once again) in a like minded group of musicians, each of whom have forged their own distinctive paths. Coming together for a project in 2011 (called Rian), the musicians, Peter O’Toole, Cormac Begley and Maitiú Ó’Casaide have joined forces with singers and songwriters Eithne Ní Chatháin and Liam himself to play music, calling themselves Ré.

They’re on tour and on their way down to Kilkenny on May 12th in the beautiful surroundings of the Black Abbey. Full details here and there’s also a link to their music here
