Applications are now open for Fáilte Ireland’s 2015 Tourism Towns Awards.
There are some requirements however with only towns and villages that ranked in the top 100 Tidy Towns of 2014 allowed to enter.
In Kilkenny, Inistioge, Tullahought and Kilkenny City qualify while in Carlow, Clonegal, Leighlinbridge and Carlow Town could also be in the running.
The award will focus on how participating towns and villages have developed their locality in key tourism areas such as sense of place, local involvement, tourism experiences and promotion of the town.
The prize for the winning area is a certificate and a five thousand euro grant to go towards further development as a tourist destination.
The closing date for applications is Friday the 12th of June.
