Pat Deering has backed a call for tax breaks to help boost Carlow and other town centres struggling since the recession.
A meeting of the Fine Gael Parliamentary party this week heard the motion tabled by Mayo TD Michelle Mulherin calling on the Finance Minister to bring in tax breaks for businesses, first time buyers and owner-occupiers who revive dormant properties in certain towns.
Its similar to the Living city initiative being rolled out in Kilkenny.
Carlow Deputy Pat Deering spoke at the meeting says its about encouraging people back into the town centre.
