The majority of Property tax collected in Carlow and Kilkenny will now stay within the two counties.
In total €5.35m will be collected in Carlow and €9.36m in Kilkenny.
Of that amount, almost €9m will be retained locally in 2016.
In Carlow the amount that’s going to be retained in 2016 will be €3.08m while in Kilkenny the amount is almost twice that at €5.84.
The government has also announced that local authorities will have increased discretion as to how they use a portion of the increased funding.
