Tinryland and Palatine through to U21 A Final – Carlow Gaa weekend report

Tinryland and Palatine are through to the Under 21 ‘A’ football championship final after wins over Eire Og and St. Andrews respectively in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Tinryland 2-9, Eire Og 0-14

Palatine 0-14, St. Andrews 1-9

Tinryland ended reigning champions Eire Og’s hopes of winning four under 21 titles in a row with a robust display in the semi-final on Saturday. Tinryland led by 2-6 to 0-6 at half time, the goals coming from Niall Lowry, and Conall Dunne. They maintained that lead until the closing stages when Eire Og mounted an all out rally and narrowed the gap to a single point however Tinryland held on for that one point

St. Andrews made Palatine battle all the way before the red and green men advanced to the final with a two point win at Netwatch Carlow Training Centre on Saturday evening

Rathvilly are through to the Junior ‘A’ semi-final with a 3-7 to 1-8 win over Leighlinbridge in their replayed game. Leighlinbridge got off to a great start and were 1-4 up before Rathvilly stepped up the pace and got goals at vital times. Rathvilly now meet Grange in the semi-final

In the Junior ‘B’ replay O’Hanrahans and Naomh Eoin served up a thriller that ended all square after sixty minutes O’ Hanrahans 1-14 Naomh Eoin 3-8 Naomh Eoin were down nine points at one tage at Spellman Park.   O’Hanrahans emerged with a three point win in extra time

O’Hanrahans 2-17 Naomh Eoin 3-11.

They now meet Eire Og in the semi-final

One game on in the minor hurling championship Erins Own play Naomh Eoin this evening in Myshall at 7-30.

This game will decide the semi-final pairings.

Old Leighlin and Mt. Leinster Rngs will replay their drawn Michael Lyng Motors quarter final replay on Tuesday evening in Netwatch Cullen Park at 8-00 pm, whoever wins this game will be out in the semi-final on Sunday v Rathvilly.
