Its emerged that just a single point kept Clonegal from winning the Overall Tidy Towns award again this year.
Yesterday they collected the Tidiest Village award for the second year running, along with a Gold medal and the prize for Best in region finishing on an impressive total of 322 points.

However overall winners Letterkenny finished just one better on 323 making it a similar story for Clonegal to last year when they lost out to Kilkenny by just a point.
Kilkenny and Leighlinbridge were also close to the top of the table – both finished on 321 points and collected Gold medals – Carlow Town also won Gold with 306pts
