We’ll find out very soon exactly what Budget 2016 will mean for us although there’s not expected to be any major surprises announced by the Ministers this afternoon.
Changes to the Universal social charge are a given as are increases in the minimum wage and the old age pension.
The Christmas Welfare Bonus will also be back and the respite care grant looks set to return too.
And theres some good news in terms of childcare with a second free pre-school year and paid paternity leave to be announced later.
Theres also reports today that free GP care scheme for under 6’s will be expanded to include children up to the age of 11.
The main bad news of Budget 2016 seems to be for smokers who are looking at a fifty cent hike on the price of a pack of twenty cigarettes from midnight tonight.
