The Dublin City Marathon has been won today in a time of 2 hours 14 minutes and just 1 second.
Competitors from Carlow and Kilkenny were among the 15 thousand participants in the 42 kilometre race around the Capital City.
Among them was Brian Carroll from Crosspatrick for whom the marathon was the final leg of a 10-day fundraiser for the Irish Hospice Foundation.
Alemu Gemechu of Ethiopia was the first man to cross the line.
The first woman was Ukranian runner Nataliya Lehonkova in two and half hours flat.
The first Irish athlete home was Sean Hehir from Clare, while the first Irish woman was Pauline Curley from Co. Offaly
Sean was running for an athletics club in Rathfarnham,Dublin – he crossed the line at a time of 2 hours 19 minutes and 47 seconds.
