There’s a proposal to tackle vacant business premises in Kilkenny.
The plan to come before the council is for a scheme that would see up to a 75 percent reduction in rates for any business looking to set up shop in an empty space.
Those availing of the ‘Vacant Premises Incentive Scheme’ would only begin to pay the same rates as neighbouring businesses after a period of at least 3 years.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Patrick McKee who put forward the original idea 4 years ago, says it will do a lot to improve the city and county.
