Gardai join forces with Taxi drivers in Kilkenny for Text Alert initiative

An initiative that will see local taxi drivers work with the Gardai will was officially launched in Kilkenny this morning.

Its hoped the new taxi text alert idea will help to clamp down on crime in the city and county.

A number of local taxi drivers have already signed up to the programme, with more expected to come on board in the new year

It launched earlier in Kilkenny Castle at 11am.
