Carlow Mayor says proposals for closure of trauma unit in St Luke’s make “absolutely no sense”

The Mayor of Carlow says it’s really a matter of life and death if the trauma facilities at St Luke’s Hospital is shut down.

It’s been reported this week that the Trauma Steering Group is recommending that the trauma units in 9 hospitals around the country be shut down.

They claim it’s part of an overall plan for a national trauma network in Ireland.

However, the proposals have come in for immense criticism from locals and politicians alike.

Mayor of Carlow, Fintan Phelan says it would be disastrous
