A temporary replacement has been elected for Bishop Séamus Freeman in Co. Kilkenny

Monsignor Michael Ryan, Parish Priest of Castlecomer has been elected as Administrator of the Diocese of Ossory.

It follows the resignation of Bishop Séamus Freeman yesterday, who stepped down due to ill health.

Monsignor Ryan now holds responsibility for administering the day-to-day affairs of the Diocese while a new Bishop is awaited.

In a statement on their website, Michael says he’s humbled to be asked to take on this new responsibility and he hopes to continue the good work that Bishop Séamus oversaw for the past nine years.
