Act chosen as the new Local Hero representative for Carlow and Kilkenny in final six national showcase later

The act declared New Local Hero for Carlow and Kilkenny is hoping to take a national title, and prize, later.

Carlow based Asophonics won the KCLR heat of the contest which is run as part of Irish Music Month, an initiative of Hot Press and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland.

The duo of Aaron Thompson and Sophia Jones have been getting a lot of airplay for track ‘Washing Dishes’.

They and five others chosen by listeners of 21 radio stations for a special showcase at The Academy in Dublin tonight.
