Another horse found dumped in Kilkenny has died.
The animal was discovered by a local on the Bleach Road yesterday – it was alive but extremely emaciated when found and had to be put to sleep at the scene by a Vet.
The council removed the horse and Gardai are involved in the investigation into who is responsible for dumping the animal.
Sergeant Peter McConnon says they would like to hear from anyone with information on the incident.
Meanwhile Kilkenny’s ISPCA are putting out a call for any witnesses to the suspected drowning of a horse on Sunday to contact them.
On Monday, a woman told KCLR of efforts to save the animal from the River Nore.
She said they phoned the KSPCA and emergency services but nobody came, apart from a local vet.
However, at that stage it was already too late.
In a statement to KCLR, the local branch of the SPCA said they had three missed calls between 1.47 and 2.22 on Sunday afternoon but no messages were left and that the first they heard of it was at 2.40 when the vet called them.
They said they offered advice over the phone and remained in contact with the vet, and then informed the County Council when the horse died.
Their Welfare Officer was not in County Kilkenny at the time to assist.
